How America Gets Back To Work

If, Barack Obama were somehow able to cure hunger in the world, the Republicans would blame him for overpopulation. Barack Obama could somehow bring about world peace, and they’d blame him for destroying the defense industry. Barack Obama has a BLT for lunch they will try to ban bacon. ~ Alan Grayson

Can you name a single accomplishment by a Republican President or Congressman in the last decade?  Republicans don't know how to fix the economy.  Their ideas will make matters worse. For example, George Bush’s policies deregulated Wall Street and caused a near depression.

For the past three years, Republicans have obstructed and worked to divide our country. You put your ideology, politics, and animosity for our president above love of country and its people.  You have no answers on more important issues like the right to good affordable health care, the economy, runaway banks, jobs, income inequality and poverty.  You’re likely to offer more trickledown economics and more bigoted laws that disenfranchise gays, blacks, and immigrants. Medicare, Social Security, and Education are at risk of becoming extinct under Republican leadership.

This group of radical Republicans have waged a “War on Women” pushing for a ban on contraception and in vitro fertilization, and would literally put a woman and her doctor behind bars if they didn't comply. They would ban abortions even when a woman faces certain death without one.  Children are the aftermath of birth.  The Supreme Court has upheld Roe v Wade.  Your semen and your spouse’s eggs are not children.    Keep Abortion Safe, Legal, and Accessible!   It's not a stretch to think that desperation wouldn't push these candidates further to the right than they are now.

"He that is of the opinion money will do everything may well be suspected of doing everything for money." ~ Ben Franklin   Romney is no business man.  He is "Gordon Gekko" - the symbol for unrestrained greed.   Romney favors income inequality but will only discuss this philosophy in a “quiet room.”    Romney has endorsed exactly the kind of upper-income tax cuts that past nominees have championed.  Romney's tax plan will add 600 billion dollars to the deficit.

Republican nominee Mitt Romney is on the wrong side of history and he's pandering to the lowest common denominator to get votes.

If you really want Change, give us a Congress WITHOUT the goal of making the President fail.

Republicans want to destroy this country and I will do everything in my power to re-elect you Mr. President.  Obama 2012!  Americans of all stripes will make their voices heard at the ballot box and soundly reject Republicans.  With President Obama leading the charge, we as a country are moving forward!

Thanks for the very good summary of the current mess. I thought the Republican convention was pretty good until I heard all the untruths they tried to portray on the general public. The most aggravating slogan of the Republican politicians is that, "Obama has not passed a budget in 3 years". The budget is just one of the items that the Congress killed in order to make the case that Obama does not deserve a second term (regardless if it hurts the people who they work for). Of course, the middle class does not give them money like the 1%, so I guess you could say they are working for their bosses.

Can you imagine that the Republicans did not mention one word about Afghanistan?

The president took several shots at the Republican convention in Tampa, noting Romney did not mention Afghanistan in his acceptance speech on Thursday, and accusing his political foes of having outdated ideas. "It was something to behold. Despite all the challenges that we face in this new century what they offered over those three days was, more often than not, an agenda that was better suited for the last century," he said. "It was a re-run. We'd seen it before."

"If you didn't DVR it, let me recap it for you: Everything's bad, it's Obama's fault, and Governor Romney is the only one who knows the secret to creating jobs and growing the economy," he said. "That was the pitch."

"And when Governor Romney had his chance to let you in on his secret, he did not offer a single new idea. Just retreads of the same old policies that have been sticking it to the middle class for years," Obama charged.

I would like to share this comment from another friend.

“Much like the entire Republican Convention, Mitt Romney's speech offered many personal attacks and gauzy platitudes, but no tangible ideas to move the country forward. What he didn't share were his actual proposals, which would take our country backwards: another $5 trillion in budget-busting tax cuts for the wealthy paid for by the middle class; transforming Medicare into a voucher program on the backs of seniors; an end to fuel efficiency standards and tax credits for renewable energy; deep cuts in student grants and loans; and the rollback of Wall Street reforms. And in an almost 45-minute speech, Mitt Romney didn't find a moment to mention Afghanistan. With no new plans and evasion about his real plans, Mitt Romney leaves this convention no stronger than he came.” ~ Jim Messina

I hear that Obama's jobs bill of over 60 pages was turned down by the House over a dozen times. Can't imagine Florida turning down a Mass Transit system. The jobs that would have created. The boost of tourism. The savings of fossil fuels. The savings of lives. Shame on Republican politics.

It’s important to be objective when you are making any kind of a rational decision. Objective is a statement that is completely unbiased and it’s verifiable by looking up facts.
Thanks for the compliment. Enjoy - http://youtu.be/PUkoU7lDwq0

How can you be objective when you are clearly stating via your avatar what candidate you support? Obviously you are seeing everything through a particular perspective. While I also see things through my personal world-view, at least don't wear an it on my sleeve for all to see.

Joy6625 - I'm glad to see that you don't try to hide your personal view like some who claim they are objective. Congratulation for standing up for what you believe.

Everyone sees life through their own eyes, but how can you expect anyone to take you seriously when you're writing flat-out hateful things about the opposite side of the aisle? Obviously you have one intention, trying to make others who have a different opinion look than you look as bad as possible....like the blog post trying to tie crazy people who want to assassinate the President to the GOP.

And as for "Republicans want to destroy this country and I will do everything in my power to re-elect you Mr. President." How is that not divisive?
