Abortion: Private or Government Decision

In a Christian perfect world, men and women would abstain from having sex until marriage. The couple would decides to have a family, the mother would get pregnant and give birth to a child.

Although, pregnancy results most frequently out of loving relationships, there are however, instances such as rape and incest that create unwanted pregnancies.

The Supreme Court rendered a decision in Roe v. Wade regarding abortions, but that decision remains contested and is the subject of debate.

Getting ready for the general election, the Republicans platform recognized a fertilized egg as a person and recently ruled that women could not get an abortion regardless of rape, incest, or to save the mother’s life. Marc Rubio argues that a fertilized egg is more valuable than the mother’s life. VP nominee Congressman Paul Ryan agrees. Regrettably, Mitt Romney has been for and against abortion during his campaign. The 2012 Republican platform has single handedly awaken a sleeping giant.

A Philadelphia-based evangelistic organization issued a news release stating that Mitt Romney must bow out of his bid for president.

Ann Coulter, a Republican pundit, said, "if we took away women’s right to vote, we’d never have to worry about another Democrat president. We’ll pay for healthcare and tuition and day care — and here, what else can we give you, soccer moms?”

The Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision created the opportunity for abortions to be safe, legal, and accessible.  Women choosing to have an abortion will return to the dark alleys of yesterday to obtain this medical procedure if Roe v Wade is not upheld.

Decisions regarding abortion are private and it doesn't matter how the pregnancy occurred.  A woman should have the right to choose this medical procedure.  The decision is between the woman and God.

88% believe abortion should be legal when a woman's life is endangered, 83% believe abortion should be legal when a woman's physical health is endangered, and 83% believe abortion should be legal when a pregnancy is caused by rape or incest. Akin's position on the federal government forcing women to take their pregnancy to term if they are impregnated by a rapist has been embraced by Romney's running mate and Romney's platform. http://maddowblog.msnbc.com/_news/2012/08/27/13505357-why-reproductive-rights-have-the-gop-on-the-defensive?lite

If it's truly a private matter, why does the government use taxpayer funds to subsidize abortions? If women truly want the "government out of their uterus" it doesn't seem to make sense that they also want contraception for "free." http://www.theblaze.com/stories/see-the-hilarious-responses-from-obama-supporters-when-asked-why-the-govt-should-pay-for-contraception/

Let's also look at abortion by the numbers. 93% of all abortions occur for "social reasons" (unwanted pregnancy, can't care for the child, etc.) 6% occur for medical reasons (child or mother) and 1% for reasons of rape. http://www.abortionno.org/Resources/fastfacts.html While I can understand Americans might side with abortion in 7% of these cases, studies also show Americans are against elective procedures or 93% of the abortions that occur in the U.S. http://aclj.org/pro-life/majority-americans-pro-life-pro-choice-lowest-history Consider Bill Clinton's quote from the 1996 DNC speech, "Abortion should not only be safe and legal, it should be rare."

I agree. Abortions should not be used as a form of contraception. But, that's none of my business. It's will remain a woman's choice.
