What Really Happened to Randy Feger?
As rumors swirl around the death of the beloved Florissant resident and father-of-four, many say the media isn’t telling the whole story. We’ve compiled what several sources say is the truth. Do you agree? Join the discussion.
As the community reels from the news of Randy Feger’s death, many Florissant residents are left wondering what really happened.
Several local people agree that that the “media isn’t telling the whole story” when it comes to exactly what happened to Randy Ferger, the Florissant man who passed away Tuesday evening after being beaten at Pirates Cove Bar & Grill last week.
“So ruthless and senseless,” posted Cindy Forguson on the Florissant Patch Facebook page. “I really hope the suspect is charged with this ruthless crime. God love his kids and family!”
While most don’t seem to want to go “on the record” about what they know, plenty of people are talking about it, and many have very strong beliefs and opinions on what really happened to Randy Feger.
Rumor Has It
Florissant Patch has been in touch with several residents who say they know what happened to Feger that night.
Each has asked that we maintain their confidentiality, but all told the same story.
According to at least three individuals who say they were at Pirates Cove Bar & Grill that night, Ferger was not involved in a fight over the washer tournament.
In fact, they insist, Feger wasn’t involved in a fight at all. Instead, he went outside to speak to the man who would later beat him.
The man allegedly had a fight with a woman inside the bar and Feger went outside to calm him down, sources said.
One source said that Randy was not a fighter and that he never lost his temper. People apparently went looking for him after he had been gone for awhile and found him lying on the ground unconscious outside behind the bar. He reportedly had a large bump on his head.
Someone threw water on him thinking he was drunk and passed out. Feger appeared to wake up, but he did not speak, the sources told Florissant Patch.
Feger’s girlfriend could not get him out of the car at home, so she left him there to sober up. When she came back out in the morning, she found him lying on the ground in a pool of blood.
Our sources said that it should be safe to assume that Feger woke up and tried to walk into the house, but added that “the guy that beat him up knew where he lived” and that some people think he might've come back to finish the job.
“The first stories that came in were all false,” said one source. “This information was told to everyone at the first candlelight vigil.”
“I know both men,” said Chris Melinda Riti in a Facebook post. “This is not the first time the suspect has done this. Randy was a great person.”
Riti added that she knew Feger for more than 25 years, and that he touched many lives.
Rachel M. Ray Ray agreed, stating that she had known the suspect for 12 years and that he “is a jerk.”
What do you think? Is this how it happened, or is there more to the story? Share your thoughts in the comments section, below.

I don't understand why his girlfriend would drive him home and leave him in the car to sober up. Someone who has been beaten doesn't act drunk. Why didn't she take him to the hospital?

Karen~this is an opinion page with opinion posts. I see what you're getting at but I think that if anything, the investigators will follow this page (and others like it) & be able to sort out who was there, & actually WITNESSED the beating vs. who wasn't and has posted opinions based on things they know about the parties from PAST events (ie: "sorting the wheat from the chaff," if you will). That's what investigators 'normally' do anyway. :)

This is an opinion page & these are opinion comments. I understand what you're saying & what you mean but I would think that IF the investigators COULD gain anything from this page (& others like it), it would likely be WHO (that's posting) was really there & witnessed the incident & who wasn't & is posting things they've HEARD or KNOW about either party from past situations...."sorting the wheat from the chaff" so to speak! As experienced investigators, they'll know the difference.

Karen and Jenoa, I understand your concern. The story was published because it represents a conversation that is happening among people who are following the case. The story is presented as a discussion piece and clearly states that these are rumors and opinions. We had a number of people who reached out to us directly who wanted to tell their side of the story. Thank you for your comments.

Very sad situation. I've heard similar things as this. I'm glad you put it as an opinion piece until you get all the facts.

The descriptions of Randy as I knew him are quite accurate. He was the sweetest man I ever met. I don't know the other party so I will not comment on him. The rumors disturb me greatly, so I can only imagine what Randy's family is feeling. I will say this -- if you were there and SAW what happened - please grow a pair and take yourself down to Florissant PD. I don't know a single detective who would not get up from his dinner to come talk to you. Not because he's anyone's friend - but because what they need is the truth. As for any further violence, Randy's family has stated they "feel no hatred" for this man. Is everyone hurt and pissed? Damned skippy, we are. Do the right thing!

St Louis Co PA's office needs to do their job for a change... You need to look into them blowing cases off.. They are just plain lazy.. all they want is the slam dunk cases.. anythig that involves work, well forget it... the PA's office is a joke just ask any cop and they will tell ya... They all need to be fired and put some people in there that will do the job that they have been hired for.

I known Randy and his brother Scott for 30 years Randy was a good person, great father, and a all around good man. We use to party together back in the day like most young people I don't know what really happened but let the truth be told God knows and will handle business. We answer for alot of things that we do, we answer to a lot of people like bosses, parents, spouses, kids, etc. I would hate to be the person that has to answer God for that crime on judgement day

@ Jim....THAT'S NOT NECESSARILY TRUE...ABSOLUTELY NOT. ONE of the people involved has an extremely long & complicated history of fighting & violence (drunk OR sober) & ONE doesn't. ONE person was trying to hit a WOMAN, ONE was trying to STOP him from doing so.

my dad was a great man... he was standing up for one of our family members when this guy did what he did too him... my dad wasnt one to start fights and he did not drink ALOT!! That has nothing to do with anything that happened....i know a man who saw the other man run away.... It hurts seeing as though i have no parents anymore and seeing that both my parents were murdered...we buried my father yesterday... i just want to say get yoiur facts straight before you start spreading rumors about MY Father...what if it had been your dad???

Taylor, I am so sorry for the pain that you are going through. I read your posts and cry. I hadn't even seen your dad in many years, but I do know the person who is said to have done this, and I pray everyday that they put him away! He is menace to society! Your dad never deserved this. People will say things that upset you, but just always remember, you know your dad! I continue to pray for your family and that justice will be served!

TAYLOR ANN~My heart breaks for you & your siblings.THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON AT ALL THAT YOU SHUD HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS!!! However, I WILL SAY (even though I'm quite sure it's NOT what you want to hear right now) that GOD DOES have a reason for everything He does, even when we can't make the slightest bit of sense out of a situation as HORRID & DESPICABLE as this. YOUR "job" now is to DO & BE the very best you can be, & you'll do it with your dad watching with enormous pride & looking out for you ALL ALONG THE WAY.For all of eternity, until you meet again (AFTER you've lived a long, FULL life)! NO, of course, it's not the way HE, YOU, YOUR GRANDPARENTS or anyone else planned,BUT....YOU CAN DO IT sweetie, you can, you can, YOU CAN!! You seem to have an enormous support system of fabulous people who really, truly LOVE you & will do WHATEVER they can to help you & guide you as time marches on. I know it's hard, if not downright impossible to see right now, but things COULD be worse....you had a dad who loved & cared for you, NOT one who abused or neglected you. No, you didn't have him NEARLY as long as you SHOULD HAVE but you DID know him & you're able to take the greatest parts of him with you for the rest of your life. There's LOADS & LOADS of people out there who never meet their parents, who have parents who abuse&neglect them, who have little or NO attributes &/or no one to care&love them when their parents are gone too soon. You're fortunate to NOT be one of those!

Love you Taylor. You are exactly right.
Randy was my cousin. He was one of the strongest men I have ever known. We come from a very large family (30+ first cousins) and Randy was always there for all of us anytime we needed him. He was always a phone call away. What happened to him was uncalled for, it was terrible. Words can not express the feeling we all have knowing that someone TOOK his life!
I hope and pray the police do not stop until they get justice for this terrible crime.

(continued from above cuz I ran outta room!!)
So, TRY to take the good parts and see the positive. I KNOW IT'S HARD...DAMN HARD! And I know this is SOOOOO UNFAIR! Things will probably be harder before they get easier, BUT lean on your family, friends, teachers, counselors, etc. who offer their help....you'll never know how much help they might be AND who might've lived through a similar situation if you don't LET them TRY to help. All of these comments/this advice is sent to you and your siblings lovingly, with the upmost care and concern and MEANT to help....& I'm truly, wholheartedly sorry if ANY offends, hurts or upsets you. I'd do ANYTHING I could to turn back the clock & change things for you guys babes...ANYTHING, but as that's not an option, all I can do is offer my love & support, along with the things I'VE learned throughout my life.
Sending all my love, prayers, hugs & cuddles to you,
Now and always,
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOX

If there is someone who knows the jerk that did this to Randy, why not step up. People know he has a reputation, etc. So why not help out and put him where he belongs before he kills someone else.

I want to help the Feger family. I am 44 years old as well and have three children of my own. I am familiar with the Pirates Cove. I noticed the fundraising results that have currently been achieved and I can help significantly. I operated a fundraising company that would work perfect here, Fundraising Midwest. I believe with the publicity that this has recieved 5000 programs could be sold. That means $10,000 per month for a very long time to the Randy Feger Fund. Go here and watch short video: http://www.fundraisingmidwest.com/savings-plans/ Anyone that has even heard of this will be happy to help.
If someone can help me get into contact with the family I would love to help.

After reading all of these comments and knowing what happened i would like to agree with the fact that this situation could have been handled a bit differently if randys girlfriend would have made the adult decision instead of "leaving him in the car to sober up" she could have called the hospital. He wasn't talking and was pretty drunk, not saying he was a huge alcoholic but you get my point, anyways Randy was a pretty great guy even though hes had some pretty poor judgment throughout his journey. i believed he touched many hearts and therefore left an impact on many people.

She had been drinking and i bet if you were in that same sitaution you would have done the same thing and given the fact that my dad has stay outside before, she thought he would just come inside. im pretty sure that lots of people wouldnt have thought to take him to the hospital i mean he was passed out when they left the bar and nobody said anything there.

Taylor Ann~don't listen to these people who say your stepmom or WHOEVER ELSE "should've done this" or "should've done that"......THEY WEREN'T THERE (most of 'em) AND THEY DON'T REALLY KNOW WHAT THE EXACT SITUATION WAS, EXACTLY WHAT STATE YOUR DAD WAS IN (ie: the sometimes, rather subtle differences between being inebriated & having mental status changes r/t a brain injury sustained during a beating).....SO......not only SHOULD THEY SHUT THE HELL UP, PARTICULARLY WHEN YOU, RANDY'S CHILDREN ARE CLEARLY READING & RESPONDING / REPLYING TO THESE POSTS, BUT ALSO BECAUSE ONE CAN'T EVER EVER SAY WITH ABSOLUTE AND COMPLETE & UTTER CERTAINTY JUST FOR SURE HOW THEY'D ACT AND WHAT THEY'D DO IF THEY WERE IN THAT SAME SITUATION. TIS -NOT-NOT-NOTTY-NOT- THEIR RIGHT OR THEIR PLACE TO SAY "WHAT SHOULD'VE BEEN DONE!!!" IF y'all technically want to START with "what should've been done," you could start with that horrible, no good, thuggiot piece of crap that SHOULD'VE been locked up & had the keys THROWN AWAY......20-25 years ago, when he first STARTED his reign of terror, solving ALL of his problems with violence, being too uneducated to string together a coherent sentence or 2, to be able to state or defend his own viewpoint.

Would you rub yer own kids' faces in the saddest, most tragic thing to happen in THEIR LIVES?? I think not!

This story saddens me. I did not really know Randy well. He seemed like a nice guy. To the family, I wish I could do more for you than offer my sincerest condolences. Justice will be done in this life or the next. Hopefully both. This "Tom" needs to suffer. To Those who are trying to point blame at the girlfriend or anyone other than Tom, What is wrong in your twisted little minds that makes anyone other than the guy who beat him to death the guilty party? And, think about this, if Tom followed him home, waited till he was alone, outside, and incapacitated, then drug him out of the car and finished the job, now its not an accident during a fight, now its premeditated first degree murder and he deserves the death penalty. Disagree? Why don't you go hang out with Tom and maybe you'll be next. To Tom. I hope I see you pushing a chick around someday. I won't be trying to calm you down. I'll be putting you down. Prick.
