Two More Fundraisers Happening for Florissant Police Officer This Weekend
Also, Officer Mike Vernon has undergone another surgery to aid in his recovery.
Two fundraisers will be held this weekend to support Vernon and his family, while the Florissant Police Department announced a special tribute to Vernon happening in September.
This weekend, the battle of the badges will host a golf tournament at the Golf Club of Florissant. The registration deadline ended June 22, but teams will be competing Friday at 7:30 a.m.
Also, the Ultimate Defense Firing Range will host a barbecue fundraiser Saturday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. in the St. Peters facility, 590 Turner Blvd.
On Facebook, the City of Florissant Police Department announced that Sept. 19 will be “Mike Vernon Night at the Ballpark,” where he’ll be honored at the St. Louis Cardinals baseball game. The department is selling tickets now for a $25 donation. For more information about the fundraisers or baseball tickets, call Officer Andy Haarman at 314-830-6042.
The department also announced via Facebook that Officer Vernon underwent surgery Wednesday afternoon to remove bullet fragments from his lungs, which was successful. He’ll be recovering in the hospital before returning to the rehabilitation facility for more physical therapy.

I just would like to see the Florissant Police Department respect the citizens like this. We had 4 kids repeatedly abused by a sitter and they did nothing about it. We had theft of mail totaling over $250.00. It took 8 months to just get a police report which was falsified and they allowed the statute to expire and never brought the suspect in for questioning. This was the babysitter's grown daughter. The doctor was never called about broken bones and bruising and documented abuse by the pediatrician and psychologist. They took 6 months to get interviews scheduled and 9 months for us to give our written statements for all the abuse. They knew the one incident was substantiated and the perpetrator was convicted for that incident. Where is justice and respect for us the citizens?

I wish I would have known about this sooner. I could have donated some things for a raffle.
