Store Owner Charged With Selling Bootleg Movies

Bridgeton resident Saddam Mutan, who owns Discount Cigarettes in Jennings, was charged with selling unlicensed DVDs from the store.

 

A Bridgeton man was one of three men were charged with selling bootleg movies from a Discount Cigarettes store in Jennings.

Saddam Mutan, 20, of the 3600 block of Bridgeton Square in Bridgeton, the store owner, was charged Wednesday with offering unauthorized recordings for sale, a felony. The store is at 7313 West Florissant Road in Jennings.

Two others charged offering unauthorized recordings for sale were Ivory Jackson, 56, of the 6000 block of Enright Avenue in St. Louis, and Ghazi Khader, 64, of Belleville, IL.

St. Louis County Police said Jackson created the bootleg DVDs and Khader is a store clerk, who sold the DVDs on Jackson’s behalf. According to the police report, the DVDs sold for $4 to $5, and the store received $1 from each sale.

Police said Mutan admitted to allowing the videos to be sold from the store.

According to the report, St. Louis County Police detectives investigating a burglary at the store noticed the bootleg DVDs being offered for sale.

Bail was set at $10,000 for each man.

It's really not their jurisdiction, these are crimes that are supposed to be investigated and pursued by the FBI not local law enforcement, but since the Feds no longer put a high priority on it and anyone with a computer can download anything these days almost view it as a victimless crime. They should spend their time fighting real crime.
