Many of St. Louis' major highways were at a standstill for most of Thursday afternoon. Trapped in that gridlock were a few Hazelwood residents.

"Took me about an hour and a half to get home from Clayton," said Janine Leccese-Ray on Florissant Patch's Facebook page. "The roads are a mess, and not safe. I advise you to NOT go anywhere if you don't have to, and if you do, drive SLOOOWWW! Oh, and I got stuck actually pulling into my driveway- neighbors had to help me, but at least I was home."

Meanwhile, others say they've been planning on delays considering the recent forecast.

"So if they have been telling people for two days how bad it will be, why is everyone who went to work today so shocked that it took them forever to get home?" asked Becky Dowling. "I understand that taking off work for weather is not always an available option, but when its the biggest news story for two days, please don't be so shocked."

What about you? What was your afternoon drive like on Thursday? Did you get home on time or was your commute interrupted by slick highways?
