Poll of the Day: What New Business Do You Want to See in Florissant?
We're asking readers to chime in on businesses they hope come to town.
With the Walmart development possibly on its way and the former Value City building under construction, it begs the question of what could come to town next.
While there’s no word on another big development coming to town, it doesn’t hurt to hope and dream for that next big business or restaurant, so let’s hear it.
What would you like to see come to town or be built in town?
Vote below in our poll or comment and let us know what you would like to see come in town.

Factories but I don't see that happening since Florissant seems to only approve car lots, restaurants, banks, walgreens, and beauty supply shops.

How about some real stores and not stores we already have. We already have beauty stores as well as every kind of dollar store there is! How about stores that will bring decent people to Florissant like Kohl's, Best Buy, Trader Joe's? Real stores!

We need businesses that are unique and bring people to Florissant. The Pearl Cafe is a good example of a unique business like that - their spice challenge, great food and fantastic beer selection is quickly making it one of the most popular Thai restaurants in St Louis. There are also national chains (like Whole Foods) that people identify with quality and will seek out no matter where they are (and will increase home values in the area). Other examples would be Trader Joe's, Costco and Ikea. Ikea could be a great addition to the Jamestown Mall area.
If I see another used car dealership, auto parts store or credit union, I think I will scream.

I agree completely. I wouldn't quash the dreams of someone trying to open a business, but come on. Let's get real, how many of these places can possibly be crammed into an area? This reminds me of when everyone was selling cell phone accessories on every corner. Too many pay day loans around here, also. The businesses going in have the potential to bring people the area that may not otherwise come here. Ulta and Five Below are all businesses that are new to this area, and currently only occupy locations in the likes of Ballwin, Manchester, and Chesterfield.
