Poll: Do You Want to See Chipotle Become a Reality in Florissant?

Several residents have expressed their displeasure and their excitement about the restaurant, but what about you?

With the Florissant City Council reviewing a Chipotle restaurant in Monday night’s meeting, it seems Florissant residents seem split on bringing the franchise to town.

Earlier this month, we reached out to residents on our Facebook page, and a number expressed their disappointment of the possibility.

Angie Simmons wrote, “Qdoba is much better and we already have one and like he ^^^ said, too many Mexican restaurants. Bring on something else.”

Helen Christine Heil wrote, “I would rather see a "mom & pop" place like DeLeo's than another chain.”

On the flip side, Mickey Pietrzak wrote, "This is actually a good idea."

So what do you think? Would you like to see Chipotle come into town or something else? Why?

I would not mind a Chipotle restaurant, but not in Old Town. Put it on the corner of PRker rd and New Halls Ferry. Get rid of some of those Bars.

I'd rather see a factory or industry instead of another restaurant.

Agree with Beckie. We need real jobs, not service jobs. How about a small business incubator? Or is that too complicated an idea for the city 'fathers?'

I agree, no more fly by night beauty supply places, North County is overrun with these. They're like kiosks, it's ridiculous. I'm glad they're all going to have to compete with Ulta. I'm fine with Cipotle, I'd be fine with most restaraunts, really. I'm just glad to see the area being developed and that big corporate players see the value of putting businesses here. Businesses that people will actually go to and spend money. What does concern me is what will happen to the old Michael's and PetCo locations. Hopefully they will not stand vacant for months or years.

There are a lot of people I can agree with so far in this thread.

K, you are correct. Where's a MAN supposed to work at in North County if the Big Box stores won't take him, the Fast Food places consider him "overqualified" because of his college education, and there is a beauty supply shop every 50 feet? Unfortunately, my name isn't Ron, I don't cut hair, and I don't sing while I do it. So I've no need to go to any of the beauty supply shops to buy in mass quantity 12 types of hair conditioner when I just need to buy a bottle of shampoo at Schnucks. The same goes for nail salons.

Becky, I love you! I also love Joe (platonicly) for bringing up the idea for a business incubation center. I didn't go through 6 years of college so that afterwords I would say things like "Price Check on Lemons" or "Would you like fries with that?" (As if any of my job applications to those places have been accepted.)

For those of you who were living under a rock last week, Money Magazine listed Florissant #76 in the top 100 small cities to live this year. The report stated that one of our strengths was having a diverse community but our weakness was no downtown area with anything that would attract visitors.

Chipotle is a step in the wrong direction especially since you have an eclectic palette of restaurants on Lindbergh. (Well, semi-eclectic. Need to see some of the big chain Bar-and-Grills like 54th Street and O'Charley's to take a hike.) [1/2]

But when you have Ruiz, Hokkaido, Las Fuentes, Fresh Italy, Old St. Louis Chop Suey, Tam Tam, St. Louis Pizza and Wings, Cannoli's, and Cugino's within a mile of St. Francois Street, you have to think "What can I do to encourage at least a couple of these restaurants to Downtown Florissant" your answer should NEVER be "Let's have a chain restaurant move in".

I would like to see the old michaels and petco with a culvers or a red robin please. I would take one of those any day of the week in that location. there needs to be something i would not oppose a red robin in where the old culppeppers used to be. that bulding needs to be used some way some how. and have culvers across from them where michaels and petco are currently.

The bars, the beauty supplies...I understand some of the points being made here, but the undertone of them are not good. The bars located in the vicinity of New Halls Ferry and Parker are all bars with mostly african american patrons, similar to all of the bars up and down N. Lindbergh. So would you want to get rid of those bars? Are they a problem? I enjoy living in Florissant because of the amenities, but to hear how people really feel about the businesses that cater to the diversity of the area is upsetting and very close minded.
