North County Man Fleeing Burglary Arrest Drove at Officers, Police Say
Lorenzo Williams is the second person charged in the North County burglary and car theft in September.
St. Louis County Police said a North County man drove at officers attempting to arrest him for a burglary and car theft in North County.
Lorenzo Williams, 20, of the 8700 block of Culpepper Drive in North County, was charged Feb. 28 with second-degree burglary, felony stealing, tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and two counts of assaulting an officer.
Williams, who lives near the burglarized home, is the second person charged in the burglary.
St. Louis County Police said officers attempted to arrest Williams Jan. 11 and identified themselves. The officers said Williams hopped in a car and drove directly at them, forcing the officers to jump out of the way to avoid being hit.
According to a police report, sometime between Sept. 12 and Sept. 15 Williams and Malcolm Hodge stole a television, a platinum diamond ring, diamond earrings, a spare key, other items and a vehicle from a home in the 6800 block of Chesapeake Drive.
Williams and Hodge took the car on a joy ride, police said.
Williams is being held in St. Louis County jail. Bail was set at $250,000. Hodge also is being held in St. Louis County jail. His bail was set at $35,000.
