North County Man Charged With Raping Young Girl Over Three-Year Period

The defendant, Cory Byrd, is being held in St. Louis County jail in lieu of a $250,000 bond.

A North County man faces several criminal charges after University City Police said he had sex with a young girl while she was between the ages of 5 and 8 years old.

Cory Byrd, 31, of the 4400 block of Paddock Point Avenue in Black Jack, was charged Thursday with several crimes, including six counts of first-degree statutory sodomy and three counts of first-degree statutory rape.

University City Police said the crimes took place between Nov. 26, 2009 and Nov. 25, 2012.

Byrd was being held Friday in St. Louis County jail. Bail was set at $250,000.

University City Police said they did not have a photo of the defendant that could be released.

I'm sure you're not alone in that feeling, Samantha.

A huge pet peeve of mine is when police refer to this as "the man had sex with a three year old" no, no, no - he didn't have sex with a three year old, he RAPED a three year old. He raped that child as a four year old. He raped that poor baby as a five year old. not ONCE was it sex. There is no sex with kids, it's RAPE and should be called that each and every single time it's mentioned. This "man" deserves the worse punishment than the law can give and beyond that.
