Man Robs Two, Steals Car in Dunegant Park

The man drove into a squad car while trying to evade officers, police said.

A man robbed two people at gunpoint Friday in Florissant’s Dunegant Park, 1930 Derhake Road, police said.

Florissant Police said Quan Rhodes, 20, approached two people in the park, pulled a handgun and demanded cell phones, cash and anything valuable they had. He took a woman’s keys and stole her red, 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier, police said.

Officers spotted the stolen car and pursued it, attempting to stop it. Rhodes struck a patrol car during the pursuit.

Rhodes was charged Friday with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.

Rhodes is being held in St. Louis County jail. Bail was set at $100,000.

Goodness you can't go to a Florissant park without the fear of being robbed. Bill McClellan is right we need a police czar to get control of the situation.

Can you go anywhere today without the fear of being robbed, or worse yet, killed? It's doubtful a police czar would ever make any difference. Could it be that it's time for honest, law abiding citizens to take control of their own safety?

@Glenn why are you calling him a ghetto thug, why he just can't be a damn thug. Not everyone who lives in the ghetto are thugs and hoodlums. Some of us are law abiding citizens just like you, as far as you leaving with the flight of white citizens Bon Voyage with your racist self and good riddance.

Seriously...Give me a break. I'm so sick of blindness in the name of political correctness. Go through these robberies and tell me what the obvious denominator is with the perpetrators of these crimes. Go get a copy of the St. Louis Whirl and tell me what you see. What is the common denominator with violent criminals in the St. Louis area? You'll lie to yourself until it happens to you or your daughters gang raped and robbed in a park. It will get worse. Because of people like Faye and Tami who act like this is a normal societal problem not tied to any particular element.

Amen to that Faye, as if that would make it better. As a white woman I am so glad I don't know you Glenn.

@lemeretoles ok you sa he's a good person, fine. But when people see his face in the paper or on this site saying he robbed someone and he had a gun what do you expect them to say, i mean come on he's not the only one going through some hard times. Hell i am too, but not once have i thought about getting a gun and going out to commit a robbery.

My brother Quan is a good person deep down inside. Its never an excuse to do wut he did. He's young n done the most stupidest thing that has him in a terrible situation where he is. We lost our mom n he didn't know how to react to a the fact that our mother isn't with us any more. So no one needs to down talk a young man. The only thing u can do is Pray. Anyone could go through the same situation as me and my family. QUAN is a smart most kind hearted person who will give his shirt off his back to anyone. Like I said he lost the closest person to him n hung around no good people who drew him into the mess he's in. We pray to God above that he's learning his lesson n will reach out to those who is going in the direction he went n over coming it, never looking back

So by that logic when my mother passed l should have felt an urge to stick a gun in someone's face and rob them. Now it makes perfect sense. What about the victims of this piece of crap? What about their "rough times ahead". I will pray for them. I will also pray for a long jail sentence for your brother so he will not do this again when he loses another member in your family.

Wow you all sound like idiots. That young man is going to get what he deserves. Jail and somebody robbing his anal cavity. Next the guy with great white flight. When you get where you are going its still going to be some blacks around there just how it is. Let's just hope you don't mind your grandchildren half black. Next ladies ah yeah that's some ghetto stuff going on there in that area. I took my children and ran right to the white side..opps I meant right side. See denial is the first part then anger as so forth and so on!!! Meaning get it together ya town is messed up because of the black youth. No home training they will receive butt hole training. Thanks have a great day!
