Man Charged With Officer's Shooting Has Pretrial Conference

Brian Lamont Cannon will face a judge Friday regarding a burglary and the shooting of Officer Mike Vernon.

The man charged with shooting an officer and a Florissant burglary on Memorial Day will have another day in front of a judge.

Brian Lamont Cannon, who shot Officer Michael Vernon while investigating a burglary, police said, will have a pretrial conference Monday morning with Judge Richard C. Bresnahan Friday morning.

Last month, Cannon was indicted by the St. Louis County grand jury for charges of assault of the officer, burglary, and two counts of armed criminal action.

In late May, according to police, Cannon shot Officer Mike Vernon while the police were searching for a burglary suspect. The police later found Cannon and arrested him for the shooting as well as burglary.
