Man Charged With Forging Ex-Wife's Stolen Checks

The woman noticed 17 checks had been stolen, but not until the man had forged 14 checks, police said.

 

A North County man was charged Aug. 1 with cashing 14 forged checks on his ex-wife’s account from June 1 through July 13.

Millard Smith, 65, of the 3500 block of Sugar Crest Drive, was charged Aug. 1 with 14 counts of forgery. The victim discovered 17 checks were missing from her apartment.

St. Louis County Police said in a report that the checks all were cashed at the Bank of America at 6950 Parker Road. The checks were cashed for a total of $1,380.

Bond was set at $15,000.
