Man Charged with Breaking into Florissant Home, Assaulting Woman

Florissant Police said the victim was home when the man broke a window to get into her home.

A man was charged Thursday with breaking into a Florissant home and attacking a woman.

Ryan O. Holiday, 19, is charged with first-degree burglary and third-degree assault after police said he broke into a home in the 300 block of St. Edward Lane.

Florissant Police said in a report the victim was home when she heard glass breaking and saw Holiday reach inside a broken window to unlock the door. The woman fled to a bedroom and put her daughter under the bed. Police said Holiday went other rooms before entering the bedroom and going through items on the dresser.

Police said in the report that when Holiday saw the woman lying on the floor next to her daughter, he jumped on her and began struggling with her. During the struggle, the woman’s iPad fell out of his backpack, according to the report. He then got up and ran out of the house.

Bond for Holiday was set at $100,000.

After receiving probation and 120 days jail "shock time" Ryan O. Holiday will undoubtedly follow in the foot steps of Brian Lamont Cannon, Jr. Who knows, Holiday might even shoot a police officer.

Well, Bebe, I am having a hard time understanding how you can defend this young man's actions. Classifying his actions as "trying to be cool" is beyond any reasoning I know. I guess I have to be one of the people that feels entitled to take whatever they want instead of working for it to be able to 'get it.'

Its called a J-O-B. People work hard to survive to make ends meet. We don't need our children traumatized by a thief. This has nothing to do with knowing him.

" before u point fingers make sure ur hands army dirty yall disgusting quik to talk bad bout someone u don't even know" Seriously???? He broke into someone's home, tried to steal their belongings and assaulted the homeowner...a WOMAN homeowner...with a small child witnessing what he was doing. That makes him a thief and a coward. it's as simple as that. It has nothing to do with judging him or having the wrong friends. And I don't care how many jobs he has. That doesn't make him any less of a criminal. As long as he has people like you making excuses for him and getting angry at those of us who call it like it is, he'll feel no need to take responsibility for what he did. I figure you're either a relative or a friend of his who also has no concept of right and wrong.

"trying to be cool" REALLY?? That's great he was a "great" kid, and that you know him so well. Curious as to how well you know the victims "uh-uh"??? This woman, and young child will be suffering a long time becuase of this CRIMINAL, and your excuse (one of them) is he was trying to be cool?? Makes me wonder if you personally think it's cool to break in to someone's home, steal their hard-earned belongings, assault a woman in front of her child, a child that will be fearful every night, probably need counseling in the future due to anxiety?? SMH, that you failed to mention the people he HURT, becuase they are TRULY the good people in this situation, that were harmed, by a young man, who's old enough to make his own desicions, and old enough to know wrong from right!! I too pray he gets a harsher, longer sentence, but I too know the justice system may fail us. Hopefully he gets help, before he enters society to yet again steal, & hurt or kill someone else. Hope you get the help you seem to need too! It's NEVER right to steal, or assualt ANYONE NO MATTER WHAT

Ryan is lucky that he was not staring down the barrels of a shotgun. Children make mistakes, so called 19 year old "men" commit crimes!

people should talk what they know and not be quick to judge I know him personally and he is a good person. All of you saying negative things would quickly rethink your comments if you knew him. Just know everyone that makes a mistake is not out hurt your children or "shoot a police officer" that was a dumb and overly exaggerated comment that was

If he were in another country he might have had his hands removed for stealing and publicly stoned for assaulting the women. Every action has a consequence and he deserves everything our laws allow to ensure he will never have the desire to be "COOL" again!

it's amazing that there are people who make excuses for bad behavior. If he had broken in killed the mother and the child would you still say he just made a mistake? or that he was a good kid? I understand people do make bad decisions but you still have to pay the consequences of your actions.

Maybe he does know wrong from right, but he didn't use it when he made the decision to come into the home of a mother and child. He is lucky she didn't let him get in the house and have a gun waiting for him when he got to where he was. It was a punk move to come into her house maybe that is why he did it because he knew a man would beat his butt or shoot his butt. If he gets out and keeps making the decisions to come into people's homes, he will misjudge one day and he may be in for a surprise. Perhaps his friends "benefit" from his burglary antics thats is why they are so understanding. Stealing is wrong, get a job and work for what you want. You don't come into people's houses "shopping" for what you like as if it is your own personal Macy's.

trust me I agree he was wrong 100x's over. I'm just saying there are some people making light of what happened to this mother and child b/c they said he was a "good" person. I do not see how good you can be when you purposely trying to hurt others
