Judge Kevin Kelly Announces Bid for Florissant Municipal Judge
Brother of late Florissant municipal judge seeks to keep the seat in the family.
The race for Florissant municipal judge has begun to heat up, even though the filing date hasn’t started.
On Friday, Judge Kevin Kelly announced he will seek the position of Florissant municipal judge. Kevin is the brother of late Florissant municipal judge Tim Kelly.
Tim Kelly passed away in June due to complications from diabetes. The City Council called for a special election of the position.
Kevin Kelly currently serves as the municipal judge for Cool Valley, Hazelwood and Maryland Heights. He also serves as the prosecuting attorney for Dellwood.
“It would be a great honor to serve the city of Florissant as its municipal judge,” he said. “I believe my experience in municipal courts for the past 30 years as well as my familiarity with the court system, the community and its residents makes me uniquely qualified for this position.”
Last week, attorney Dan Boyle announced his candidacy for the position as well.
The election takes place on Nov. 8.
