Monday night, the Florissant Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed a request to amend an ordinance to the Value City redevelopment, currently under construction.
TRI Architects requested the amendment to add a Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant to the outlot building, which would be placed next door to Panda Express.
Lead Commissioner Jane Boyle said she was concerned with no bollards being around the restaurant, and Commissioner Daniel Call further pointed out to the petitioner that bollards would need to be placed around the restaurant if the restaurant would use outdoor dining.
TRI Architects presenter Jeff Kaiser said that the group could consider a commercial-grade steel fence, but Call said he wouldn’t support the fence as it should be a stronger structure to protect against cars possibly coming toward customers.
Commissioners approved the amendment with the stipulation that bollards or some sort of structure be reviewed and approved by Building Commissioner Philip Lum.
The measure still must be approved before City Council before being added.
