Fundraisers, Outpouring Continue for Florissant Officer Mike Vernon
Saturday's event raised more than $39,500 for Officer Vernon and his family.

This past weekend, more than 5,000 people showed up to Joe’s Pub to show their love and support to honor Officer Vernon. According to Florissant Police Department spokesperson Andy Haarman, the event fundraised more than $39,500.
Previously, Backstoppers presented Officer Vernon and his family with a check for $50,000, too. He also received $500 on behalf of the Creve Coeur Police Department’s charity golf tournament.
There are a number of other fundraisers happening in the area to assist Vernon and his family, including:
- Salon 67 will be hosting a Cut-a-Thon Sunday, June 10, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. According to the salon, 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to Officer Vernon and his family.
- Washers for Public Safety will host a washer tournament Saturday, June 23. Registration opens at 9 a.m., and the first toss will be at 10 a.m. It’s $30 for each team, and the winners will receive $100. The tournament will be held at the James J. Eagan Center.
- Cugino’s will host a benefit between 11 a.m. and midnight on June 10. The benefit will feature a bags tournament, raffles, auctions and prizes.

Haarman said that Officer Vernon has been transported to the Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis, where he will undergo rehab for an undetermined amount of time.
