Fundraisers, Outpouring Continue for Florissant Officer Mike Vernon

Saturday's event raised more than $39,500 for Officer Vernon and his family.

 

As Florissant Police Officer Mike Vernon continues his road to recovery, the community and surrounding organizations continue to support and uplift his family.

This past weekend, more than 5,000 people showed up to Joe’s Pub to show their love and support to honor Officer Vernon. According to Florissant Police Department spokesperson Andy Haarman, the event fundraised more than $39,500.

Previously, Backstoppers presented Officer Vernon and his family with a check for $50,000, too. He also received $500 on behalf of the Creve Coeur Police Department’s charity golf tournament.

There are a number of other fundraisers happening in the area to assist Vernon and his family, including:

Haarman said that Officer Vernon has been transported to the Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis, where he will undergo rehab for an undetermined amount of time.
