Florissant Police: "Zero Tolerance" For Residents' Fireworks

Police will be increasing patrols for those who might be using fireworks in the area.

While the City of Florissant will go on with their fireworks show, the City of Florissant and the Florissant Police Department want to remind residents that they shouldn’t light their own.

Florissant Police Department spokesman Andy Haarman said that the department will have a “zero tolerance” policy for anyone seen or caught lighting fireworks in the city. He also said that fines for such a crime could be as high as $1,000.

The department will also have extra officers on patrol throughout neighborhoods to monitor for residents’ fireworks activities.

The sale, use and possession of fireworks in St. Louis County is illegal.

Since I went to bed last night to the sounds of bang bang bang, I do not think their zero tolerance is working.

As I picked up the spent bottle rockets and other fireworks residue from my back yard this morning, I kept saying to myself, "this is zero tolerance"?

Someone on Raymond had an hour-long show that I could watch from my kitchen window. Police were nowhere to be seen.

Zero Tolerance my foot. By the time they show up if they show up it is all over. I heard fireworks all night. I looked out my window but I couldn't see where they were coming from.

I agree. Never say a police car in my subdivision all evening. People were still shooting them off at 4 am.

Well, I drove around quite a bit last night & there were police pulling in & out of neighborhoods all over. So I can only assume that the people shooting them off were avoiding being caught.

We had people shooting them off until at least 1 am. Across the common ground from us the people must have spent $500, the show went on and on.
