Florissant Police Officer Remains in Critical Condition
Officer Mike Vernon remains in critical condition, as of Monday night, after being shot in the shoulder and side.
Despite the bad start of Memorial Day, it seemed the Florissant Police Department remained in good conditions toward the end of the night.
As of Monday night, Florissant Police Officer Mike Vernon, who was shot twice in the early hours of that morning, remained in critical condition in the intensive care unit of DePaul Hospital.
Captain Sean Fagan said in an interview with Fox 2 News that doctors would continue to observe Vernon overnight and evaluate his condition for more possible surgery Tuesday.
Florissant spokesman Andy Haarman said earlier on Monday that police were sending their thoughts and prayers to Vernon and his family for a full recovery.
Florissant police said earlier in the day that they had a person of interest in custody who was being questioned. The Fox 2 News report in Monday night said that a weapon had been retrieved in a nearby neighborhood at the scene.
