Florissant Officially Becomes "The Valley of Flowers"
City council passes city motto and other ordinances.
Florissant has officially become the Valley of Flowers.
During Monday night’s meeting, the Florissant City Council passed an ordinance that makes “The Valley of Flowers” as the official motto of Florissant.
Mayor Tom Schneider asked the implications of the ordinance and its enforceability, and City Attorney John Hessel explained that the ordinance would be enforceable, but the wording change of the substitute bill would not indicate a mandatory punishment if something else would be mentioned as the motto.
The bill unanimously passed the council.
Other ordinances passed include:
- One that transfers the special use permit of Halls Ferry Inn to a new owner
- One that authorizes the transfer of $14,000 from the general revenue fund to an account to allow for the use of mosquito fogging.

really? this is the kind of sillyness these guys are coming up with? What a complete waste of time and effort. Here's an idea, how about figuring out how to keep the city clean or maybe work on keeping residents personal property from growing legs and wandering off. Here's another idea, work on traffic congestion. If these clowns are going to spend time coming up with a motto and how to enforce it then it's high time to dismantle the group. Try concerning themselves with important matters rather than trivial crap like this.

It certainly does seem like we should have bigger fish to fry so to speak!
