Although a few months have passed since Florissant Police Officer Mike Vernon was shot in the line of duty, Florissant and the St. Louis area have not stopped supporting him or his family.

Several other fundraisers are planned for the officer this month and well into early fall.

This weekend, Unsung Heroes Soccer Organization hosts an 8 versus 8 soccer tournament at Gametime Sportsplex in St. Peters. All proceeds will benefit the Vernon family.

The following weekend, a dinner/dance/auction will be held for him at the Plumbers and Pipetfitters Local 562 Auditorium at 12385 Larimore Rd.

Other events for the month include:

• A Hooters Fun Week Fundraiser, Aug. 20-26
• A Trivia Night – Sept. 15
• A Classic Car Show – Oct. 14
