Florissant Named in Lawsuit for Red-Light Cameras

Florissant, along with other St. Louis County municipalities, faces class-action lawsuit.

The City of Florissant has been named in a class-action lawsuit with some St. Louis County municipalities regarding use of the red-light cameras, according to the Riverfront Times.

Ryan Keane and John Campbell of Simon Law Firm filed against Florissant, Creve Coeur, Ellisville. Arnold and Kansas City, MO were also named, according to the article.

City Attorney said he had just learned of the lawsuit earlier Monday evening but would be researching the matter further.

Florissant City Council approved enforcement in 2005. Earlier this year, the Missouri Department of Transportation released a study saying that the cameras prove effective in reducing accidents at intersections with traffic lights.

Currently, the City of Florissant has red-light cameras at the intersections of Graham and Dunn roads, Manresa and Lindbergh Boulevard, Lindsay Lane and North Highway 67, Trotterway and North Highway 67 and New Halls Ferry and N. Highway 67, according to the .
