Florissant Mayor Endorses Tom Schneider
Robert Lowery calls Ward 3 City Councilman a friend and someone who will lead the city well.
On Sunday morning, Mayor Robert Lowery announced his endorsement of mayoral candidate and Ward 3 City Councilman Tom Schneider for the next mayor of Florissant.
“It is important to me that the next leader of our city has the dedication, experience, enthusiasm and leadership it takes to continue moving our city forward,” Lowery said in a press release distributed by Friends to Elect Tom Schneider Committee. “I have been serving with such a man since 1976 when Tom Schneider was hired by the late Mayor James Eagan to be the Florissant City Engineer.
“Most important to me is that Tom Schneider loves the people of our city. I am proud to call Tom my friend. I trust Tom Schneider to do what is right, I am honored to endorse his candidacy and I urge you to help Tom become the next Mayor of Florissant,” he said in closing.
Candidate Schneider said that he welcomed the endorsement and had been hoping to get it.
“I’m honored of his endorsement,” Schneider said. “He’s for protection and progress, and those are two big words on my campaign.”
Schneider also said that he hopes to continue the progress that Mayor Lowery has made.
Schneider was endorsed amongst a field of six mayoral candidates, including Ward 6 City Councilman Andrew Podleski, state Rep. Michael Spreng, Hazelwood school board member Mark Behlmann, former Ward 1 City Councilwoman Susan Geerling and Ward 6 City Councilman Robert Garrett.
