Florissant City Council Gives OK to Sunday Liquor Sales Law

The Council also had a number of bills that were passed, postponed or read for the first time. Here’s a rundown of how the bills stacked up Monday night. Ward 7 City Councilwoman Jackie Pagano was absent from the meeting.

• The council passed Bill 8860, which would vacate the city’s interest in certain easements by Maloney Manor One, with a vote of 5-3.
• The Council failed Bill 8863, which would allow for changes to the design for Park Side Estates on Charbonier Road, with a vote of 6-2.
• The Council unanimously passed Bill 8864, which transfers $6,000 and $11,000 for Bangert Pool and  respectively, for the utility costs of each location.
• The Council unanimously approved Bill 8865, which would amend the city’s ordinance pertaining to Sunday sales of alcohol by establishments that currently sell food. Establishments would not be required to sell food on Sundays but would have to obtain a permit, which is in accordance of state law.
• The council passed Bill 8866, which would be a $27,000 expenditure for software and a new police dog for the Florissant Police Department.
• Bill 8867 was read for the first time for the 2013 Community Development Block Grant.
• The Council removed Bill 8868 off its agenda until a later meeting. The bill would grant a special use permit to Ballard’s Bar.
• The Council postponed Bill 8869, which would appropriate $5,000 from the General Revenue Fund for building maintenance expenses through the rest of the fiscal year.
• Bill 8870 was read for the first time Monday, and it would appropriate $4,000 from the general revenue fund for uniforms for the rest of the fiscal year.
• Council unanimously approved Bill 8871, which would update the city’s grievance policy.
• Bill 8872 was read for the first time, which amends a section of the city ordinances dealing with offenses to add a new section dealing with cable TV, internet and telephone services.
