Finding Time for Fitness
Making time for workouts is a great example for you and your child.
Shortly before I found out I was pregnant with my first child, I ran a marathon. I had several friends that I would meet for runs on different days of the week. I had a schedule that I followed.
I had energy, I felt great about myself and I was still able to wear clothes from high school.
Now, three years and two kids later, I'm tired more often, nothing seems to fit quite right and I can barely make the two-mile lap of my neighborhood. Like a lot of moms I know, I have a hard time taking time for myself to do what I need to do to stay healthy. It has become all too easy for me to find an excuse as to why I can't work out.
A gym with childcare is a great option for parents who like the amenities fitness facilities offer. The Gold's Gym on Lindbergh in Florissant offers childcare while you workout, so it's a great choice for parents who like using machine weights, swimming laps or participating in exercise classes.
Also, there are so many ways we can fit exercise in without taking time away from our families. Our backyard is fenced in, so I will take my son outside and let him run and play while I rake leaves. When the weather is nice, I pull him around our cul-de-sac in his wagon. When it snows, I shovel the driveway, while he tromps around in the snow.
Working out and being healthy are some of the best things you can do for your kids. You're setting a great example for them, while taking care of yourself, so you will be able to do all the things kids want their parents to be able to do.
Just remember, something is always better than nothing. Ten minutes here and 10 minutes there add up, and you'll start to notice a difference. There is no time like the present to find some time for fitness.

Are you going to teach your kids to run? I've heard of whole families who run races together. I think that would be pretty cool when I have kids eventually.
