Fiesta in Florissant Returns to the Streets

The festival brings new entertainment to the Knights of Columbus grounds this weekend.

Despite the hot weather this week and weekend, the streets of Florissant will have a lot of flavor and salsa added when Fiesta in Florissant hits.

The festival takes place at the Knights of Columbus grounds, June 23-24.

Haniny Hillberg, one of the organizers for the festival, said attendees can expect more Hispanic pop music for the younger audience as well as the tradition of Mexican and salsa being played.

She also said that there would be a fashion show and Palomino food added to this year’s festivities.

"Many of the committee members are residents or were raised in Florissant," she said last yera. "We thought it would be a great family-friendly place to show and share our rich Hispanic culture through music, food and crafts from different countries."

"It's an opportunity for folks to get acquainted with the Latin community," added Carlos G. Jove, a past committee member of the Hispanic Festival committee. "Watching people come back year after year is very rewarding."

The family-friendly activities, which include a kids' corner, arts and crafts booths, food vendors and live entertainment, are some of the highlights for Fiesta in Florissant.
