Dining Debate: Where's the Best Ice Cream, Frozen Custard or Frozen Yogurt?

Whether you enjoy the lighter option, the egg based option or some creamy delight, let Patch know what's the Reader's Choice for best ice cream, frozen custard or frozen yogurt.

Welcome to "Dining Debate," a column aimed at sharing the best foodie finds in our area: Florissant, Hazelwood and Maryland Heights.

This weekly feature invites you to nominate and vote on your favorite places for a variety of eats and treats.

How does it work?

Every Monday, we will ask you to tell us your favorite place for a certain edible item.

This week we're looking for a good cold treat. We want to know: Where's the best ice cream, frozen yogurt or frozen custard shop?

You can let us know your favorite spot by commenting below. You will be able to submit your vote through 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Then what?

We will post your nominations in an article Wednesday morning. Then it will be time to vote again—this time for the "Dining Debate" champion.

Voting will continue through 5 p.m. Thursday, and we will announce the winner first thing Friday morning.

If you are really pulling for a certain location, share this column on Facebook and Twitter and ask your followers to vote.

This column is all about hearing from you!

So, without further ado, lets get the voting started. Patch readers, tell us by commenting below, where is the BEST place for ice cream, frozen yogurt or frozen custard in Hazelwood, Florissant, or Maryland Heights?

Fritz's Frozen Custard is the very best.

I'm not a big dessert fan (though I do love Baskin Robbins chocolate chip ice cream), but my wife is a Fritz's custard loyalist - so I'll vote for Fritz's on her behalf.

I love the Baskin Robbins Pralines n Cream, but their little lot is sooo hard to get into and out of on that corner!

Since I've tried them all, I have to say that my favorite experience is Fritz's, but Doozle's was every bit as good tasting (possibly better, but not by much). I just didn't like how close it was to the road & how loud everyone stopping & starting at the stoplight was.

I always go to Doozles. They have Black Walnut Ice cream. My favorite.

Fritz's is very good I agree. Doozles is also good, as well as Iggy's and Velvet Freeze.

Best ice cream is Serendipidty. The salted caramel is superb and their homemade hot fudge & hot caramel is to die for!

There used to be one in Hazelwood, Maria. The closet one that I can think of now is on West Florissant, at the intersection of Lucas & Hunt, I believe.
